Aran received his divinity training at Regent College, Vancouver (MDiv and ThM). He then graduated with a PhD in Old Testament from North West University in South Africa. His thesis, Praying the Language of Enmity in the Psalter, was subsequently published with Wipf & Stock.  


Aran’s particular areas of interest are in the Psalms, the wisdom literature, the book of Isaiah, and interpreting the Old Testament in light of the New. His most recent book is Contours of Creation: Learning about God, Creation, and Ourselves in Genesis 1–3, which explores the historical and scientific challenges Christians face when reading the creation story.  Aran has taught at Ryle Seminary in Ottawa, and currently teaches in the department of American and English literature at Anyang University, South Korea.


He is married to Kyoungha and has two daughters.
